Rhino3Dzine Features CAD-Driven Innovation in Mangrove
Our studio has long relied on digital tools to bridge the gap between concept and fabrication, and our latest project, Mangrove, is no exception. This record-breaking glass installation, recently featured in Rhino3Dzine, showcases how Rhino and its scripting plugin, Grasshopper- that allows automation of tasks, played a crucial role in shaping an ambitious vision into a realized form.
Spanning over 25 meters in height, Mangrove demanded a level of precision and adaptability that could only be achieved through computational modeling. With thousands of individual glass tubes arranged in an intricate composition, the project required a balance between digital accuracy and the organic qualities of our sculpting methodology. Rhino provided the foundation for this process, allowing us to generate complex surface geometries, optimize structural behavior, and coordinate the precise placement of each element.
Beyond technical execution, the project reflects our ongoing exploration of material behavior and large-scale fabrication. By integrating digital and analog methodologies, we’re able to push the limits of what’s possible in glass sculpture while maintaining an intuitive, hands-on approach.
We’re honored to see our process highlighted in Rhino3Dzine, and we invite you to read more about the project.
