STIM Talk at Ennead Architects
Last month, Nikolas gave a presentation at Ennead Architect’s New York headquarters in One World Trade Center for their STIM Culture Platform. He shared the evolution of his work, demonstrating how he uses emerging technology and engineering to create installations that have grown larger and more complex over time.
The story began with his early days working in blown glass, exploring the material’s molten stretch and flow, which sparked a deep interest in shaping glass in varied forms. As his ambitions grew, he developed new logistical and structural solutions to create large-scale works for public spaces, while maintaining the fluid, flexible approach of his early work. This led to his innovative concept of a glass “fabric”—a flexible glass textile matrix that allowed for expansive, structural forms.
The talk concluded with Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, Philippines, now recognized as the world’s largest glass sculpture. Nikolas shared the journey behind this record-breaking commission, detailing its conception and fabrication.
Nikolas and his team were warmly welcomed at Ennead, where they enjoyed house-made iced teas and a lively Q&A. We hope to host them back on our home turf of the studio soon. Stay tuned!
